Project Kishori

How Project Kishori is Changing Lives of Adolescent Girl?

Every society faces some kind of an issue that effects human life. Poverty, illiteracy, pollution, exploitation of the weaker sections, or any kind of social activity that needs addressing has a blemished impact on the lives of individuals. In order to curb this, we require special efforts from either individuals or organizations that draw a light upon these issues and ask for a resolve. NGOs are one such non-governmental and non profiting organizations that help in providing solution to these plights.

What is Project Kishori?

This is one of the much appreciated works of Prazna Foundation, where girls and women are empowered regarding their rights and provided with the required knowledge and amenities to make their lives better. This project imbues awareness regarding sanitation, menstrual hygiene.

Project Kishori vision is to spread this awareness amongst girls and women especially from a humble background.

Vision Behind Project Kishori

Project Kishori envisages a better women and girl condition. Project Kishori vision is that they must be self reliant in managing their monthly menstrual hygiene and should be educated to meet the society issues equally. It focuses on healthy living drawn by women and girls. Especially those who have less or no access to hygiene and educational facilities. Prazna foundation is keen to change the lives of young girls by bringing a holistic development in their way of living.

Key Initiatives of Kishori: Programs That Make a Difference

Prazna foundation has worked in the direction of women and girl welfare by doing service for their well being. Some of the key measures that they have undergone  are

  1. Conducting workshops for women and girls who come from slum areas. Slum areas lack proper facilities of sanitation and menstrual hygiene products. For this the workshops have open dialogues, provide necessary education ,and empower women and girls to meet with such difficulties in a  proper way.
  2. Another step that they have undergone is distribution of hygiene kits and delivery of awareness sessions at schools. In this way they can reach young girls and address their problems with conviction. There will be health education programs for young girls. It will make them self reliant in maintaining hygiene during their menstrual periods.

The Impact on Communities: How Kishori is Transforming Lives

Project Kishori in collaboration with Brahmos aerospace is bringing vitality to the lives of our women and girl children. It is an eye opener for an otherwise blind society that cares less for them. It also keeps them uninformed about their basic rights. This project is going to have a revolutionary impact on our communities:

  1. As this features educating women and girls about menstrual hygiene , it will play a vital role in changing the lives of many girls . They have to feel embarrassed about sharing their problems.
  2. It will invoke a sense of confidence and self respect amongst the people.
  3. It will educate those who are unable to get the required knowledge as a lack of facilities.
  4. It will help women and girls in maintaining good health.
  5. It will make better citizens.

Why Project Kishori Matters?

Girls undergo immense challenges while they grow up. They are by nature sensitive human beings . Girls have to manage many situations that arise while they are in their adolescent age. They have to overcome shyness while facing others. Their body undergoes changes while growing that builts a pressure onto them as to why these changes are taking place. If they are not given proper education regarding these things they can develop stress and low self esteem.

Prazna Foundation, to boost the upliftment of girls and women, has taken the initiative in this project named Kishori. In this all these above said problems can be identified and addressed in a systematic manner. This will help innocent girls and women to face the challenges of the society. It will also help them find even more respectful position and lead a dignified life.
